I have a question for anybody. Last night at work me and a couple people were talking about winnings and awards in reference to money. we found out that at casinos anything under ten thousand dollars you do not have to claim and anything over that amount you need to pay taxes on. We were trying to figure out if you need to claim and pay taxes on money awarded to you in a law suit. If you are awarded money for compensation, do you need to claim that money at the end of the year and if you do what is the % of tax you pay? anybody know?
